Dear Dancers and Parents,

We hope everyone had fun with our Halloween classes. We loved seeing all of our dancers in their costumes and sharing their creativity with us! We hope to have pictures of the Halloween classes posted on our blog in the next few weeks. Feel free to download them or email Krista and we will email them back to you. You can find our blog at danceunlimitedrigby.blogspot.com. If anyone wants to get rid of their excess Halloween candy we can always use donations to our treat boxes.

Now we are heading into winter and the Holiday Season. This time of year seems to get hectic and crazy for all of us. We will be doing some fun and creative things in our classes to add to the spirit of the season. The only changes for our class schedule in the Rigby Studio this month will be for our Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday classes the week of Thanksgiving. We will not be holding any classes on Wed. Nov. 23rd, Thursday Nov. 24th, or Friday, Nov. 25th.

Please remember that our costume deposit of $30.00 is due this month. If you need to work out any kind of payment arrangement, please let Krista know as soon as possible and we will be happy to work with you. We have already begun to find costume pieces, and by collecting this deposit at this time we are able to shop around and work hard to get the best, most appropriate costumes, and at the same time keep the cost as low as possible.

We are now approaching flu season and we urge everyone to use caution. We want the dancers to be excited about being in class and some work hard to achieve perfect attendance. However, please remember that the teachers have children, school schedules, etc. to think about as well, and if they get sick or the other dancers do, then it is a problem for everyone.

We are beginning to work on our recital numbers. Each class will have 2 numbers, as well as a part in the finale, (Creative Movement classes will not be in the finale). We are so excited for our Recital theme this year which will be “No Greater Love”, and we are working very hard to find fun ways to use this theme. By beginning to learn these numbers now, we will have enough time to get them learned and cleaned, continue to work on technique, teach new steps and skills, and do creative learning activities in class without overwhelming our dancers, or concentrating on just one thing. You can now bring in a blank recordable CD, labeled with the dancer’s name, and in a sleeve or cover. Please do this as soon as possible. This will give us time over the next few weeks to get all of our music cut and ready, and then make copies for our dancers to practice with at home. It is crucial that these dancers have the opportunity to practice their numbers as we are learning them so that we do not have to re-teach all of the steps every week because they have forgotten them.

We have had several of you ask us about renting the studio spaces in off hours for things such as scrapbooking, crafts, family parties etc. Please watch our bulletin boards and blog and Facebook page for information on activities, and if you are interested in renting any of our spaces contact Krista.

Please take special note of our Rigby Studio, (Rexburg may be different) “Winter Weather Policy”: If school is canceled or released early due to bad weather only, we will not hold class. (Because we have so many students from different school districts, it is not possible to work around school being out for other reasons - i.e. teacher work days, minor holidays, and spring breaks – so we will generally plan on holding classes in these situations. On major holiday’s - i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. - we will let you know the dates of our breaks.) We know that often the conditions are better by afternoon, but in order to be consistent it is better to have one policy. If ever you have a question, or are in doubt, please call Krista or check our blog or Facebook page to know for sure. If we have more than one cancellation per month or an unusual number of “snow days” during the period we will be scheduling makeup classes on Saturdays, and we will address these situations as they arise. If bad weather hits after we have left to start classes, we urge you to use your best judgment. We would never want to risk the safety of any of our dancers or their families.

One of our blessings that we are most thankful for, is the opportunity we have to teach. We truly love and care about all of our dancers, and we are especially grateful for the chance to share something that we love so deeply with them. We want very much to make this an important and happy experience for them, and we love to see the growth and excitement in them. Their spirits brighten our lives everyday. Thank you so much for sharing your children with us and for your support.

Happy Thanksgiving
